Fund-a-cure

Whether or not you attend the Gala, you can still support JDRF in finding a cure through Fund A Cure. This is an exclusive program where 100% of your donation goes directly to a specified research area. This year, the Artificial Pancreas Project (APP) has been chosen as the area of focus.

The purpose of the APP is to develop an external device in which people with type 1 diabetes could control both high and low blood sugar levels around the clock. It works by combining a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and an insulin pump with sophisticated computer software to automatically provide the right amount of insulin at the right time.

The APP has the most tangible potential today and has recently received the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for a key testing phase.
